Tate Modern is the national gallery of international modern and contemporary art and showcases art from 1900 to the present day. (1) In this post, I’ll let you know few bits and pieces about it. If you are not a great fan of art, enjoy the quote from this post banner, a photograph of quote by Duchamp 1912 taken at the level 1 of the gallery. May one day you will realize that even what you do is one of the greatest state of art - the art of life.

What’s cool »
The 1st thing that amaze me was a hollow egg-shaped structure. What’s unique about it is that when you stand in front of it, you will see your reflection (from inside) upside down. Totally unique and genius state of art. As I took physics at college, what pops out of my mind was the concept of reflection. Total internal reflection maybe
But, personally it is a good one. › Personal rating: 3.5 stars
Next cool thing is the hanging-bars-of-soap. Totally genius and I never thought of it. You can see many shapes and colours of soap hanging down from the ceiling. And I told my friend, “Let’s start to collect soap bars, who knows ours can be placed here in this gallery. Lol~”. › Personal rating: 4 stars
There are others that are interesting but I these two are the obvious one. Some of them which are cool » chrome molecule structure (Level 5), black and white abstract drawings (Level 5), and a canvas slashed with a knife (Level 1).
What’s not »
To be honest, I’m not a great fan of portraits and living things sculpture for a long time. And I made it clear in my post Beware You O Designer about it. Thus, since about 30% of the arts shown here were portraits and living things sculpture, I’m sorry to say that I just walk pass through them.
Conclusion
Overall rating of the gallery: 3 stars
Not much really. I still can’t appreciate arts because even a great masterpiece has its flaws. I guess my next trip will be the Design Museum, near the Tower Bridge. We’ll see how modern arts can sparks creativity. Well, perhaps you can tell me the state-of-art which I overlooked.

Just a 3 out of 5? Modern art isn’t for everyone, but glad you enjoyed your visit.

Thanks david,
But I guess the main reason why I bring it down to 3/5 is because the living things sculpture and drawings. So people appreciate it, but I don’t. And I guess even more fair to say art isn’t for everyone. Mr Ken Walters in his comment on my post “Beware you O designers” said that he prefers abstract arts. Any my favourite is the Islamic Arts. It would be great if you could buy the book that I suggested.
Cheers.
