Starting this year, at the end of each month I will review my performance – what I’ve done and achieved. From the monthly reviews, I will try to outline some tactical plans to improve my efficiency (which leads to productivity) and time management. Indeed, this is part of my strategic planning for the year 2009. They say if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
In terms of efficiency: I have used several softwares and add-ons which eliminates the redundancy of doing simple work such as highlighting, copy and paste, typing username and password, etc. Check out these softwares and add-ons that I found useful and it is highly recommended.

- Ubiquity (An experiment into connecting the Web with language)
- 1Password (Password Manager and Form Filler)
- iShowU & Quicktime Pro (For screen recording and podcast)
- MacHeist’s Process (Project management)
Community work: Whenever I am free, I will spend my time doing my side projects for the community. Mainly tutorial @ iluvislam (design tutorial and technology – written in my first language), ISAC Studio (Islamic Arts Club) and lensa.co.uk (photography). These are few major achievements for my community-based project:
- 450+ RSS Subscribers (tutorial@iluvislam + ISAC Studio)
- Scheduled posts for full month of February (tutorial@iluvislam)
At my desktop, I put a word document file with the title articles(*.odt) and whenever I don’t have anything to do, I will do some research using the internet and write one or two articles. Each articles that has been put to schedule, I will then leave a simple note at the end of the title (e.g: … – done). Apart from that, when I come across a good website or anything useful, the first thing that I usually do is to copy the link and paste it in the file. That is how I manage to prepare full month of scheduled posts.
Design is what I love, that is what you will find at my twitter page. Earlier this month, I ran the 10p for Gaza appeal and I received 752 comments. The first week was amazing! Most of my friends help me to promote this cause through their blog, IM and also word of mouth. I’m taking this opportunity to thank all of you who involved directly or indirectly. May God reward all of us for this good cause.
- Aman Palestin, ISMA, LENSA & ISAC Studio
- Since I love to play atmosphir, I design an atmosphir wallpaper for all. Beware, the “Play” button isn’t clickable!
I was given the opportunity to design a car sticker for Aman Palestin and ISMA. However, they decided to print it as a main banner. Photos are taken by LENSA team (Credit: Shamin and Muhsin).

I have also run a new website, http://malaysiangames.co.uk/. The main idea of this website is to create a hub where all Malaysians can promote their events at a common ground. At the end of the day, only one domain name they need to remember – MalaysianGames.co.uk (Watch video)
I believe all the things that I wanted to share has been mention above. Feel free to ask me any questions by leaving a comment below or drop me an email at design@mohdrafie.co.uk. Thank you for reading and have a nice day!
